somebody's reading through my bedside pile o'books and mags again.
this one's on top. instead of buying books, i'm reading all boy's F&SF mags (a few years' worth. i've read 15 or more in the last week) at night. he kept them hidden away in a closet before this. i found them. w00t! @
We let our subscription run out a couple of years ago...but it was the highlight of my month there for a long time. Or was it bi-monthly.......I forget. It was my favorite magazine...my all time favorite stories out of there were "A Baby", by Esther Friesner, and "Anywhere but Here, With Anyone but You". I forget the author of that one, but it was one of the most moving shorts I've ever read.
If I'm not mistaken, this was the same magazine I was reading 20 years ago when I was completely caught up in the first published story/installment that became "Enemy Mine". The only reason I bring this up is that I ran across the movie on TV a couple weeks ago (Dennis Quaid, Lou Gossett, Jr.) and started reminiscing. I couldn't believe what wistful memories it brought back. I probably saved that magazine for a long time--sorry I can't say the same for that marriage :-o
