I'm going to log off now, having not done anything all evening other than IM with Liz and Jen and post comments to LJ. I think the piano is calling me.
How did playing go? Mine has been whispering in my ear for the past couple of days, but only at times when I can't do anything about it. Soon, though, I'll go and play.
It went pretty well. It'd been a couple of weeks since I played, and my fingers were stiff, but after a couple of bashings through Pachelbel's Canon I limbered up a bit and started to make actual music, though still with a few wrong notes. One of my songbooks doesn't stay open on the stand, so I have to fight with it every time I want to turn a page, which makes for long annoying silences in the middle of a phrase, but oh well.
I think that I'm going to go and play as soon as I go get the fries in the oven. I'm feeling the need for Chopin and Beethoven and Mendelssohn. After my traditional chord-based warm-up, that is. (It's really good for getting fingers warm and limber, and loosening the backs of the hands. My piano teacher showed it to me just before I stopped playing lessons, luckily. And it even sounds not-half-bad.)
I haven't played Pachbel's Canon seriously in forever. My best friend Erin and I did a duet, violin and piano, when we were in about Gr. 6, for the talent show. And I think that that was the last time. Oh, wait, I did have music for it. I just don't know where it's gone. Story of my life...
