I subscribed to Knitting Daily. The recent discussions have been about shaping, which is fine, useful and interesting. But I'm being aggravated by the writer's continual cutesy references to breasts as The Girls or The Ladies. Never does she use the word breasts. Grrr!

Date: 2008-03-18 03:00 am (UTC)It's a way to avoid the responsibilities that go along with the 'adult' words. And it annoys the hell out of me. And I believe that it also does other things societally, but this isn't the place to go into that.
The only reason we let The Girl call her genital area her "little bottom" is that a) she came up with the name, b) it's relatively physically descriptive at this point in her life and c) 5 and 6 year olds aren't really going to understand the difference between the internal and external bits for a few years, so d) it's easier. But it's not "hoo hoo" and I'm grateful for that.
Whooo... boy did I go off on a rant.
Um, yeah, I'm just going to agree with what
